Parked the Sam Odi, and went for this.
Restrained Napa cab masquerading as a Bdx. Extremely well done.

See my prior notes. Outstanding presentation. This will hang around for a few more years, too.

See my prior notes for the detail. More of a restrained Napa cab, which I appreciate. Excellent mid palate detail helps to deliver a more in-depth tasting experience. This is a top draw domestic cab.

Pungent nose of blueberry jam, laced with nutmeg and cinnamon. The mid-palate is defined by its robust tannic structure. The detail of the presentation is the main feature of this wine. It’s chiseled and possesses good depth. It brings a lovely black fruit profile, coupled with a persistent finish. This has runway ahead of it.

A feminine Napa Cab, if such a thing is possible. Flavorful and polished, without big weight or over extraction. Dark fruit, medium-long finish.

I rated this 92 only three months ago and thought it needed time. Not the experience today. 2+ hours air and then dug in. It is awesome. Time will help. Still lots of edges, but I’m loving this.
Big, complex, layered, and pretty darn balanced given everything going on. There are some things that stuck out, and that’s probably what I experienced last time and thought it needed time. The secondary stuff from oak sticks out, but is really interesting; Cedar and baking spice…the mouthfeel is GREAT. Then there’s anise, dark chocolate, cherry, blackberry and more. It goes on and on and on.
Vikings are done. Go Chiefs!
