My #2 in this 2007-2018 vertical. Loved the fruit on this one.

Study of Cali Pinot, the bookends of A to Z. From Domaine de La Cote to Kosta Browne. For what is expected to be a Pinot lollipop, this 7 year old bad boy has developed a lovely savory profile.

Very earthy and savory. Black berry/cherry fruit is hidden between layers of freshly turned earth and Forrest Floor. Hint of blueberry on the finish. Tasted kind of dirty to me. I don’t understand what all the fuss is about.

A Riesling-like Pinot. High pitched raisin, red/purple flowers, and damped wood on the nose. Raspberries and roasted currants on the palate. Very well balanced, fine tannin. Could use more years, but it’s a great wine to celebrate with my wife.

Pretty raspberry becoming darker red fruits with air. Felt this bottle had a lighter nose and palate than previous SC ‘15s

Big Sonoma Pinot framed by very fine tannins and a bit of heat (14.3% abv). Well made, but poor QPR, and a bit too much ripeness for my tastes.

Pnp. Right in its drinking window. Cherry Cola, vanilla, and a touch of violets and smoke. Preferred this over the RRV pinot.

Absolute stunner. In a night with 12+ wines with friends, this was the consensus favorite. KB consistently produces some of the most elegantly layered Pinot in Sonoma County with terrific balance of fruit, earth, and acid. Oddly find myself preferring these AVA blends to some of the single vineyards at times (though that is a blind testing yet to come to fruition!)
