One of the “Bourguignon” producers in the line-up, this examples from Jules Desjourneys was a clear outlier in the group. This was a 2010 and came across younger than anything else we enjoyed over the course of the evening. Popped and poured; no formal notes. The 2010 Fleurie “Chapelle des Bois” is locked up in oak but the fruit is there; dark brambles forever with some licorice as well. Unfortunately, it’s going to take a very long time for the oak to give up its grip on this one. Luckily, I think the quality of the fruit will last long enough to make it more enjoyable…eventually. Best after 2025 through 2040; which seems somewhat ridiculous to write.

Incredible complexity and intense aromas from carbonic maceration? Still fresh fruit with crisp acidity with a bit of astringency on the finish.

This wine continues to transcend grape and place. Desjourneys is a mad genius. #beaujolais #fleurie #gamayzing #mysomm

Really grippy, structured. Evolved in glass. So lovely.

Awesome. Slightly carbonic red fruit, Carmel, truffle, granite, red fruit flowers, little young but great length.

Loved it! Even in 2019. Very balanced and smooth. Great with warm goat cheese salad or autumn soup.
