Coming back to the Greek red wine I had last night... it’s worth a special post. Dark fruit nose, lots of spice (black pepper, cumin, clove, nutmeg) on the nose, soft herbal notes as well. Deep garnet color like an Amarone. On the palate, lots of plum, soft acidity nicely balanced by tannins. Oh the tannins in this wine! The lingering tannin is so powerful, it makes me think of tannins in a Barbaresco. It is also so grippy that I feel like I am biting into the tannins and craving some braised beef. By the way the wine is from 2010 vintage!!! For $22 this is a gem… and @sommselect I think this wine is going to age more than 5 more years. I just had it 24 hours later, and the tannins are still kicking in high gears.
