A completely different wine than the Dominus. This was full throttle and slams you back in to your seat with its G forces. So ripe, almost over the top; but it decelerates just in time and the finish is so succulent it lingers in your mouth forever. Filled to the tip of the cork with graphite and teeth staining purple fruit. This is the malevolent bastard child of a young Colgin IX Syrah and 2000 Chateau Pavie. Gobsmacker.

This is my first time drinking Harlan Estate Proprietary Red. The 2003 is a wholly seductive wine that reminds me of high-end Bordeaux. Inky, totally opaque countenance, it is decadent, yet retains elegance and finesse. Black fruit, cassis, cedar and black licorice aromas leading to pure, sweet fruit that fills the mouth, along with silky, caressing tannins. Mint, forest floor, graphite and leaf tobacco on the back palate. It has a kind of ethereal quality, which is difficult to quantify. Great persistence.

First Harlan magnum I have ever had. 2003 vintage and it was simply insane. Spectacular fruit, balance and tannins that are softer than Todd Hyster’s hands! This was drinking brilliantly from the get go and only got better over 2h. Great end to a fantastic day at PCI. This is the stuff!

Wow. MASSIVE. 6hr of air and it still have off scorched wood throughout. At 9hr fruits are emerging-finally. While appreciate this wine I have moved on other styles.
