Tasty and fun at first, but with some intrigue under the surface. Wild and gamey berry fruit, with some deeper notes of violets, leather, musk, forest floor and savory herbs. Medium acidity, medium- tannin. Medium body and very very quaffable. Drink it on its own or with a range of milder dishes.

A curiosity from the Silvaspoons vineyard in Alta Mesa AVA (Sacramento County) from the mysterious Portuguese Alvarelhao grape, made by Matthew Rorick.Transparent ruby, purplish at the rim. Very aromatic, violet-like nose, reminescent of Brachetto. Amazingly elegant in the mouth, medium-bodied, with red currant, velvety tannin and fresh acidity. Long finish with retronasal violets. Impressive. 2014 vintage, abv 13,12 %, 27 euro.
