Started out funky but then got better but was still lactic and had a bit too much opulence for me. Well made but not for me

Really dark, cooked black fruit, fig-like, roasted coffee, liqueur, herbal tones and warm earth. There’s surprising richness and concentration here.

The 2012 Dominus is a real head-turner. Flashy, voluptuous and intense, but with tons of underlying concentration, the 2012 is simply magnificent. A towering, vertical Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2012 Dominus is one of the most concentrated wines of the vintage, yet it also maintains considerable freshness, the signature of a late-ripening vintage with no heat spikes. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2015)

Sipping Fine Wine

A blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, deep dense red with aromas of dark fruits, spice and oak with hints of sweetness. On the palate, ripe blackberry, cherry and sweet raspberry flavors, fragrant cedar, tobacco and cacao round out the taste. Firm yet supple tannins with integrated acidity carry this elegant wine to a lingering finish ending with earthy oak tones. Will age well for another decade. Tasting Sample.

The pair to the side by side w/ Backus (and 100 pt to boot). Completely balanced! Lucious dark red fruit, silky velvet over the whole mouth - simply lovely!!

Yeah, I know, too young. Such is the nature of most restaurant lists. Still, a stunning wine to share with the Vinous map team during our research of Yountville vineyards.
