Domaine Poisot Père et Fils
Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru Pinot Noir

Glorious nose. Singing. Huge cherry fruit. Such spice and complexity. Big limestone footprint. Huge huge perfume. Amazing nose. It gets more detailed with air. All types of flowers, almost a pastille aroma. Amazing. You smell the fresh potting wet soil as well and it is so vivid and distinct. Palate is loaded with sweet fruit and very muscular. It is so explosive and dense get perfectly ethereal in its hugeness like only Grand Cru Pinot can do. The piercing quality of the ridiculously intense sweet fruit combined with the sweetness (yes more sweetness) and freshness is just remarkable. Amazing texture and length. This is Grand Cru in ever way shape or form. Remarkable value here. Stunning purity and length. Lovely licorice lines the finish. Incredible balance and so decadent. Big tannins but thoroughly ripe and gives such an uncanny sense of place and is a very fine example of this vaunted Grand Cru.

Ok there must be bottle variation on this one!!!!! The other bottle was pretty bad at 8.8 and this one excellent and really exceptional for a 14. Was at a lagoon/dock party and popped it because i thought who cares it’s shit anyways / what a mistake! no one really had a clue of the price of these wines/these days and what the treat was - note the party wine glasses at a dock in Carlsbad/CA - no formal notes sorry.

Reasonable but not great. This manifests (for me) that 2014 was a sucky vintage for red Burghs. Cherry 🍒 mostly. Quite harsh - comes across a little overoaked. Typically i give wines the benefit of the doubt but not after 11 years in the bottle. And i am not in awe because it is a GC. Quite linear lacks debth and beyond the surprisingly fresh cherry little else. Astringent. Next day comes across tired touched now by oxidation but not really improved. Give it another 5 years pray or my strong suggestion drink up on a weekday.
