Been a while since I've checked into the '13. Nose had a little stank to it. Should blow off. Under that is some nice cherry and granite slabs. Palate is so juicy and it almost painfully intense in its tiny berry fruit character and finishes off with a super granite finish. Lipsmacking wine and a great and original Gamay.

Always terrific. Always Gamay and always shows the terroir of St. Joseph so well, where these vines are grown. Huge granitic nose, spice, mineral and and overall impression of rocks. Palate is so juicy on this darker interpretation of Gamay. Big, ripe, fiercely tannic, yet fresh deep and balanced. Terrific tannic bite full of granite and fruit. Great wine.

Really interesting; its the Northern Rhône through a Gamay lense. Things I had previously associated solely with Syrah are here in this wine.

Glass full of rocks. I don't think I've ever had a wine that has sucked up such ridiculous minerality from the earth. Also, too, some leather and fruit on the nose. Rustic rustic rustic. In a good way. A fair amount of tannic and great acids will allow this to improve over the next few years, but hard to resist this geology major right now.
UPDATE-NIGHT 2: More very pure, ripe, penetrating, berry and black cherry fruit showing, but still, the stones!

Touch of reduction in the nose, that blows off within 45 minutes. Smoke, granite soil tones, leather and some hints of mushroom. Also some dark berry fruit. Really deep and unfolds over a few hours. Palate is grapey like Gamay and tannic and soil driven like St. Joseph can be. Terrific thrust and freshness. Outstanding purity.

Bright menthol nose. Deep grapey dark Gamay aromas. Gamey aromas. Cherry explosion. Amazing texture. Juicy, high acid and lovely purity. Surely will develop over the next few hours.
