Domaine Hippolyte Reverdy
Sancerre Pinot Noir
Tried twice, just great, a special rarity from Sancerre, only about 10% or so of Sancerre wines are “red.” Ruby with aromas of red fruit and earthy spice notes. On the palate cherry and cranberry, herb spice wrapped in vivid acidity. Fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit and earthy mineral notes. Nice!

1 person found it helpfulOct 11th, 2021Sancerre Rouge! It’s not always easy to find (especially in the Midwest), but it’s always enjoyable. A Pinot Noir-based wine from Sancerre AOC of the Central Vineyards region in Loire Valley, France, which is most famous for its Sauvignon Blanc, but also makes excellent Pinot Noir (representing only 10-20% of wines produced in this area).
This wine is medium ruby. It has medium(+) intensity of fresh and youthful fruit aromas and flavors that include bright red cherry, strawberry, and cranberry notes, also tulip, vegetal, and wet stone notes. The acidity is medium(+), the wine is medium-bodied, it has medium tannins, and high alcohol. Words that come to mind are elegant, fruity, vibrant, balanced. The finish is medium.
Domaine Hippolyte Reverdy, Sancerre Rouge, vintage 2018, ABV 14.5%. Ordered through @kermitlynchwine at $31.00 / bottle.

Perfume nose of strawberry and slate. Lovely strawberries, violets, licorice, with a nice, tangy zip. Ever so slight tannins, with smooth, lingering finish. We loved the 2017 and we love this 2018 as well!
