Iron, iron, iron. Rusty plum. Almost like you bit your tongue, and you are bleeding profusely. Needs time to blow off its reduction and age to get to a more supple place. Still enjoyed it though. A surefire pairing with root vegetables (no surprise there).

Enjoyed with LMB at home
Great balance of minerality and fruit
It really reaffirmed my love for Gouges as a winemaker after being disappointed in a recent white burgundy from him
Perhaps because he does not do a lot of manipulation and is so chemical free, his whites struggle for expression in quieter vintages whereas his reds - hello skins! - really pull in the terroir, admitting 2009 was a great year for Burgundy
