Tough vintage, beautiful wine. Garnet, starting to brick at the edges. Opened up nicely after 90 minutes. The aromas tell the whole story. Strawberries and assorted other lil red forest fruits, loamy earth, dried leaves. Some stemmy astringency on the finish that calls out for food. Which, time to eat

A fantastic value at $46.50 a bottle. Opened at 3:00 and by 5:30 was presenting beautifully. Coates gives the producer two stars (only 29 two-stars in all of the Côte d'Or — only 17 three-star). Grand Cru level 1er Cru. 2007 was not a great year — this wine is an exception.

Final bottle from our cellar. Plum, dried cherry, five-spice powder. Gorgeous nose. Palate not tired in the least. More vibrant fruit, graphite, acid, long finish. Elegant & angular in a good way, a sort of Burgundian Rupert Everett.

An investment that has continued to pay dividends. Purchased ex-chateau in 2011; 1/2 case at $30/bottle—almost an impossible extravagance for a freshly minted college graduate in a bum economy. Now fully mature (the wine, that is), what a joy to taste this as it evolves over a few hours in the decanter. Cherry/cranberry accord, great acidity, tannins still present, aging delightfully. A silver fox. Way above premier cru. Thankful to have one left.
