Heritage Reserve California Pinot Noir

A gift I opened to tide me through watching the Oscars. Green leaf and briar notes in nose, with an undercurrent of raspberry and blackberry. Slightly peppery and tart initially, light tannins with decent berry (black, blue) and slight cherry and cranberry character. Spice flavor emerges later. Highly drinkable if not 100% on point varietally; then again, I drink mostly Oregon pinots these days, so what do I know about the range of Pinot styles from California today?

Surprisingly great wine. Especially for the price point.

Great nose holds lots of promise. But fails to deliver. Very "tongue forward" flavor, but nothing else. Very boring and bland.

Vanilla on nose, caramel oakiness on mouth

Smooth from the start. Hint of spice. Light. Paired well with lobster bisque.

Loved this wine! I love the old undertones. This reminds me of an old book smell.
