Very smooth and fruity wine. Easy drinking with just enough structure to lift it above an everyday wine.

2018 Currant Bun CabSauv enjoyed on July 1, 2020, the birthday of our 2nd grandson, whose parents have already nicknamed him Bun Jr. (his 4 year old sister is Bun 1). Maybe we were unduly influenced by the joyful occasion, but we found this wine charming - tart and crisp.

Ripe fruit on the nose, somewhat a fragrance of semi dried fruit like apricots and sultanas. Mild to no tannins, medium to full bodied, has a sweetness akin to naturally dried fruits, which is not at all overpowering. This could be food! I wouldn’t waste it to accompany food, but will let food accompany the wine. Go for full flavored robust cheddars, pasta and pizza with tomato based sauce, or a hearty minestrone. Aptly named after a pastry Currant Bun. Imagine hot cross buns with sultanas or raisins.
