Needed some time to breath, but very smooth with dry fruity aroma. Deep ruby color, nice acidity. Not overly tannic. Cherry with earthy notes.

From an underappreciated region in Italy, this sagrantino is a full-bodied wine with terrific aromatics. Much richer than I was expecting (I'm guessing 2007 was a warm vintage), this is a great wine for people unfamiliar with rich Italian reds. Sharing it with my sister who happened to be in Orange County on buisiness the same time I'm out here for a National Academies panel. Great evening!
