Very good 🍷 and approachable, but could lay down for a few more years. Not as complex as I like them to be.
Contessa was an amazing restaurant with wonderful views. If in Boston, it’s a must! ❤️

2016 vintage. Revisiting for the first time in six whole weeks. Some newish, high dill notes in the introductory nose. All previous four notes ranging from 6.30.21 > 8.24.21 still apply. Such a great mid-palate wine. Enough tannic power to sustain through a dwindled finish. If one could only drag and drop characteristics here and there, would reposition a few attributes of the front/mid palate score of 9.5/9.6 onto the finish for better balance. Life in the big city. Despite this wine flaming out at the end, have enjoyed it enuff to hit it 7x since the end of June while buying no more than two bottles at a time.

2016 vintage. Still banging. 4th bottle in the last three months. Medium body. Nose has improved and has a deep, dark funk going down with earth, cedar, paint chips (yes please), currant and salinity lurking about. A little bit more on the medium-dry finish finally showing now…composed with plenty of dark cherry, herbs, mushrooms and black plum. I think this was my last bottle. Time to pick up another half-case.

2016 vintage. Open for nearly an hour and the nose is closed for business. Medium/Heavy body and flavors coming through tho. Blackberry. Big cherry/plum combination. Choco cake. Hint o’ mint. Obsequious richness front-end loaded with the ample tannins jumping into the hot tub at the midway point. The best thing about this young pup is the balance. Could still go for a little more on the back end but the first two-thirds is so nice, I’ve laminated a hall pass with its’ name on it.

2016 vintage. Second bottle in as many weeks. Really enjoyed that equal, two-fisted assault of fruit and tannic structure in the early going with a slow, shimmering fade out. Far from perfect but character and personality count. Picked up a few more bottles and will continue to trace evolution or lack thereof.

2016 vintage. Medium-bodied with an expansive mouthfeel. Beautiful dark hue. Drinking nicely now but could use a few years to settle in. Only complaint is that the finish is (currently) long but a little lean on the fruit. What cherry/plum that transfers into the finish disperses quickly. Oak present and noticeable but perfectly complimentary. A touch of class.

Cedar, pencil shavings, currants, some pyrazines. Classic Bordeaux. Really needs bottle age.
