The 2009 Léoville Las Cases is poured blind and just soars in the glass. What stunned me was the tension and precision on the nose, tropes that I do not find with many Left Bank wines in this vintage. It has fabulous mineralité with that crushed stone element more pronounced than ever. The palate has beguiling symmetry, perfectly poised with a peacock's tail on the finish. A real standout at today's tasting. It's just a baby, but there's so much potential here. Focused intensity, understated elegance and gorgeous minerality.

A wonderfully ripe and lush nose with gobs of red fruit and lush depth. On the palate broad and sexy. Still super young- hard to see how this pans out. Less of the obvious structure, clarity and elegance of these but I presume this will settle into its usual classy self.
