Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend

graphite, cedar. Soft red fruit. A hint of band aid. Lush and supple and long.

Dense and regal. Dark fruit with cedar. Iron, smoke. Gorgeous

The 1982 Lafite-Rothschild is a wine I have drunk several times, though maybe this is the first time in magnum. It is deeply impressive. Deep in colour, it has a classic Pauillac nose with intense black fruit mixed with pencil shavings and black truffles. It simply oozes class. The palate is very well balanced with finely-chiselled tannins, spellbinding definition and immense, dare I say it, almost "Latour-like" stature on the persistent finish. Magnificent. Don’t understand this wine. Dinner of 10, no one was impressed. Don’t think this is a bottle with decades ahead.

This was a solid one, not much fruit left, but the aromatics were extremely lifted & high toned.

This was one of the 82 Bdx that we had vs. the 78 Napa's. Honestly, and I'm a little shocked to be saying this, but it didn't hold a candle to any of the Napa wines. Not sure if the bottle underperformed or what, and it was double decanted and allowed to open, but just stayed lean and sharp. Lacking of fruit.

Gorgeous example of this wine. Wonderfully expressive and aromatic. Perfectly mature but on the plateau with no signs of falling off of it.

Just stupid perfect in every way. Potentially the best wine I've ever tasted.

Not sure how to rate this one... Not confident it is what it says.
