Very light in color and body but surprising evocative bouquet. Soft spice and earth, loads of dried mountain herbs, savoury meaty notes, some acidity left, fading rose, soft tannins. This wine makes you go to it, nothing flashy. Satisfying.

Musty nose and bricking, a bit thin at the onset but developed over the course of the evening, it never hit full stride but it had finesse and class. A very fun night of 3 vintage '66s paired with bison steaks over looking the bay with good people.

1966 vintage. Mid-shoulder fill. Opened with a Durand. Okay cork. Not decanted. Tasted 15 minutes, 45 minutes and 1.5 hours after opening. Sh*t ton of sed. Orange-brown/appropriate color. Dusty, leather, reductive red fruits nose. Light body. Instructive but not illuminating. Solidly on the descent on the back side of the bell curve. Excellent specimen to play wine pathologist with. Insert fruit(s) here. Insert structural component(s) there. The more familiarity with the wine, the more you can add. 8.14.26.

The 66 didn't quite deliver on the same level as the others that we had this evening. It's a great wine but the mid palate was lacking and the finish was rather short. Had we enjoyed it by itself it most likely would've been a different story. Don't get me wrong, I'll never turn away the bottle!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
