Cru Classe de Graves Pessac - Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend

I don’t drink much Bordeaux but this 2001 reminded me what all the fuss is about. Fruit was dialed back and tertiary flavors of old books and tobacco emerged. Enough acidity that you really wanted the next careful sip. At Wally’s wine bar in Beverly Hills. Where people with way too much money and little clue shop. But treasures await for those who aren’t chasing a label.

Rich, mature and extremely balance but at the same time: an impressive mouth full of wine and so very subtle. Brilliant. Sun-dried tomato. Warm cherry flan. Lavender. Black fruit compote. Wet terracotta tiles on a warm summer day. The class oozes from the glass. Wow.

Beautiful round fruits, good acidity, toasty bread and slight earthiness and mushrooms developing. Already very interesting but a ton of life left.

V good but expectations were high. Needs a long decant.

Inky purple in color the nose is pure violets and Kirsch liquor with a twinge of truffles and funk. Palate is full of candied cherries and sugar plums with crushed gravel and a tinge of sweet tobacco on the finish. Needs a long decant. Beautiful

Min stora favorit för kvällen. Mer sötfruktig och doften drar lite åt fruktkompott utan att bli flabbig. I munnen är frukten jättebra, len och följdsam. Toner av pepparmint fräschar upp och man återvänder ständigt till glaset för mer.
