Transparent, singing. Ripe but tense. Truly top tier fruit.

Sipping Fine Wine

A blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre Syrah and Cinsault. Deep Ruby with aromas of sweet black fruits, earthy pepper spice and floral notes. On the palate complex flavors of plum, cherry and blackberry, with notes of oak, leather and forest spice. Full body, firm tannic structure, well balanced with long finish, good now but will last another decade. Outstanding.

This is now the second time in the past ten months I’ve had the chance to visit the 2017 Chateau de Beaucastel. Just as good as the first time I tried it, the 2017 Chateau de Beaucastel Rouge is a nothing short of a scintillating wine from this historic estate. A blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre with Counoise, this comes off as a touch more heady than most vintages with layers of ripe boysenberry and black cherry with dried thyme alongside lovely savory tones and salty, stony terroir. The length here is quite impressive, as is the soft texture and bright acidity that brings you back to the glass for more. Wonderfully seductive in its youth, this has two decades of life in front of it. Drink 2022-2038- 95

The thrilling 2017 Chateau de Beaucastel Châteauneuf du Pape is a scintillating new wine by Marc Perrin. The final blend is 30% both Grenache and Mourvedre, 10% Counoise, 10% to varietals Vaccarèse, Terret Noir, Muscardin, Clairette, Picpoul, Picardan, Bourboulenc, Roussanne and 5% Cinsault. Needing a one hour decant to be fully aroused, the 2017 Chateau de Beaucastel shows nice stony and smoky tones with green olive tapenade, huckleberry, herbs de Provence, and shades of Umami. The palate shows amazing freshness and astringency, with a seamless texture and marvelous mouthfeel. Rich black fruits mingle with shades of saline dusted red currants, Kalmata olive tapenade, bulls blood, smoked pork shoulder and menthol tones that all sing in harmony on the palate. Lively, with a great veil of tension and showing great weight, this beautiful wine is only an infant at this juncture and will provide drinking enjoyment for decades to come. Drink 2020-2038- 95

+1 hour decant(some fine/cloudy sediment). A prodigious medium ruby red color. On the nose: red fruit, licorice, herbs, sandlewood, smoked meat. Taste: Still youthful and energetic with red raspberry/plum, dark currants, tea, earth, and a clove/dark chocolate med plus finish. YUM!

My favorite wine with pork chops!
Upping to 94 from m 93 after 4 hours. This is improving as the night goes on. Black fruit, red fruit, minerality… wow, just impressed

Beautiful deep ruby colour. Because it's still young, it smells tight at first, but opens up to a nice mix of red berries, cherries, blackberries, blackcurrant, leather and spices. In the mouth, the tannins smoothly grip around the mouth and give a wonderful structure where notes of black cherry, plums, blackberries evolve with savoury notes of pepper and spice. High acidity and beautiful long finish. Super dynamic wine which will be wonderful to taste in a few more years!

I crushed the pork chops tonight. The wine brought it as well.

So, i over rated this knowing that it will get there. I know. It’s WAY too young, but i wanted to try. I love Mourvèdre, and this would be my pick of i could only ever pick one French wine. It took over an hour for the nose to develop. Tannins are tight as expected, but this bomb of a blend kills it. All kinds of red and black fruit, leave you wanting more. I love this
