Ripe..: will this be amazing in 10 years or dead? It has some of the exotic cos stuff but it’s overripe. I wonder if it will be textured and amazing in 10 years or just a wreck

Starting the week off right with the second bottle from Chateau Cos d'Estournel the 2009 Les Pagodes de Cos. This is a blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot.

On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, cassis, green bell pepper, chocolate, violets, cedar, spice, and earth.

On the palate I am able to get notes of black cherry, blackberry, black plum, cassis, green bell pepper, asian spice, tobacco and earth.

This a beautiful full bodied smooth fresh mouthfeel with medium + to high acidity and medium + to high mouth coating grippy sweet tannins that lead into a long dark fruit spicy earth finish. What a great way to start the week. This second bottle would be a classic first anytime. Have a great week ahead and pleas stay healthy and safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Almost as good as the grand vin. Heck maybe even better at age ten! Awesome wine

Very attractive. Still quite tight. Leather, tar. Dark profile. Burst of spice through the finish.

Wonderful complement to a paella making evening. Smooth. Big cherry and plum flavors.

This is what a very good Bordeaux (majority cab) should taste like. It’s pricey but you get what you pay for.

Beautiful Garnet color. I’m shocked at the veracity of the tannins 12 years in given how warm a year 2009 was. This wine has structure but is brooding… dark fruits and almost a gaminess like Northern Rhone….There is stone, and pencil lead, and dare I say a chocolate note… intriguing as St. Esteph always is for me, the best of Bordeaux! Evolved and became more beautiful with grilled steak and roasted asparagus!

Chocolatey tasting truffles. Progressively better after 1-2 hours.

1hr+ decant. Dark red color. Restrained nose with some cherry aromas and a little plum. Wine is very tight, with some bing cherry. Lovely texture is the highlight. Short finish. Seems like a dead or off bottle, but no clear indications from the bottle, cork, or wine color. Disappointing to say the least!
