Chappellet
Signature Donn Chappellet Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Alluring smoke and toast on the nose but no follow through at this stage. Could be a promising wine with balanced fruit and structure to age. Hold.

Absolutely captivating. Plum and cherry pie which evolved into a more brambly boysenberry, with a background of cocoa powder, ground coffee, anisette aromas. Packs a punch--intense black fruit with licorice and an earthy bitterness. Already showing depth and secondary complexity--one of my favorite Napa cabs to date!

Exactly what you want out of a California Cab. Pure Napa... Too big for the food, but certainly a crowd pleaser....

On this Thanksgiving I have chosen the 2012 Chappellete Signature Cabernet Sauvignon to have with dinner. This paired really well with the turkey. On the nose I am getting notes of plum, blackberry, blueberry, smokey oak and a minerals. On the palate there are dark fruit, Black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, black licorice, herbal notes, and a touch of oak all in well balanced harmony. The acidity is bright and vibrant at medium + and chewy medium + Tannin. This all comes together in a pleasing long lasting finish. The breakdown of the blend is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 8% Malbec, and 7% Petit Verdot.
