Initially this gave off a blast of vanilla oaky scents. With air, the wood calmed down some. It’s still a modern “international style” Chianti, which is not my cup of tea. Nose has ripe cherry and vanilla wood tones, and a bit of cooling minerality in the distant background. In the mouth it has a lot of twiggy, dry leafy flavors that remind me of inexpensive cru bourgeois Bordeaux. The more air it gets, the more the tannins on the finish seem to dry out. Decent.

Very expressive Chianti. Definitely needed time to open up, but once it did a lot of red fruit flavors came through supported by fine grained tannins. Aging notes as well of sweet oak and almost a bit of pleasant jammy-ness on the finish.

Very nice cherry extract, a little balsamic, nice acidity and moderate tannins. Had it with s pizza and it rocked.
