The wine is a pale, greenish-gold in the glass. It smells, notably, of beeswax - not surprising given that the grapes were grown in the Beeswax Vineyard of Monterey County’s Arroyo Seco. A light lanolin creeps over with a bit of yellow melon and a chalk minerality. The nose is elegant, not forceful. On the palate, its savory aspect is apparent, with waxy and nutty flavors presiding over the citrus and minerals. The mouthfeel is full and the acidity is just enough. Year after year, it’s one of the best white wines I taste.

Primarily Rousanne, which brings aromatics of Bartlett pears, honey and white flowers. The palate echoes the nose but also brings a heavy and very hot finish roaring in.
