Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay

Using a library photo from Delectable. The vintage I had was 2014 which was a brilliant White Burgundy vintage. The nose showing struck match sulphides - also mineral with flint. Notes of fresh herbs with white flowers. Palate is restrained but very precise. The first white from the Burgundy dinner in Sydney on August 7. Just catching up with notes now. The food match with steamed Murray Cod was superb.

A punchy nose with struck match, honeyed lime. Stone and flint. Rick and great acidity subtly laced throughout. Excellent

Lovely and lucid. Lime and slate and great acidity. Real focus and presence.

Mineral driven vineyard driven beauty . Lots of yellow fruit minerals , saline and white flowers . Dense and focused plate with lots of dry extract and saline on the log lingering finish .

I had this out of coravin and man, did it underdeliver. Not sure if that was it but even after about 45 minutes it was still tight and lacking in acid and overall expression. Perhaps it’s young and has to be aged but I have had much better burgundy for less many times.

A woody nose with hint of charcoal More savoury than fruit driven. There’s Dry Extract again. The oak puts this wine a little out of balance. My least pointed Wine in this bracket and yet when revealed it has been one of my favourite White Burgundies over the years.

Mind bending.

2014. So youthful and concentrated but already possessing a generosity and stylish poise. Lemon curd, prominent acid and beautiful, subtle spicy oak. This is sheer class. One of this years greats
