Deep ruby/Inky in color with a short purple rim.

Strong fruity nose with black currants, sweet cherries, raisins, figs, wood, earth, vanilla, eucalyptus, cola, mint, chocolates, mocha, coffee, black pepper and spices. Great nose.

Full bodied, smooth and bold, with medium acidity and great legs.

Dry and extremely fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, dried figs, raisins, vanilla, cedar, leather, chocolates, tobacco, cola, licorice, spices, earth and peppercorn.

Long finish with firm, yet round tannins and tangy raspberries.

What a great wine this is. Beautifully balanced with great complexity with layers of flavors both on the nose and palate. Spicy with a great mouthfeel and good structure.

I had this vintage a year ago, and now it's so much better. This might improve in the next couple of years, actually.

I loved the tangy finish against the firm tannins. Very tasty.

Good right out of the bottle, but so much better after 90 minutes in a decanter.

A blend of Monastrell and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Aged for 22 months in French and American Oak barrels.

15.5% alcohol by volume.

This had new world all over it and it ended up being Spanish. Typical American oak nose, but also some mint. Vanilla extract (but not too much) and blueberries, alongside smoked meats. Awesome value.

Sipping Fine Wine

Winery is owned in collaboration with Chris Ringland, Jorge Ordonez, Miguel Gil and others and located in the Valley of La Aragona inside the Murcia district of Jumilla. Very dark almost purple with floral fruit aromas and gentle spice. On the palate blueberry and black cherry flavors, savory with great mouthfeel. 24 months aging on French and American oak, the 70% Monastrell and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon has fine tannins with earthy mineral tones on a lingering finish. A Fav! Needs more time!

Well I think I am a tougher scorer than three years ago - this was not a 9.3 as I scored it three years ago but I found it the same thus the dilemma - so I am a tougher scorer - like it but I think it is not getting better and I think the life left is short so drink it you got them still a 9.2 is a good bottle - new world - highly extracted - not a pnp which is what I tried to do - I still smiling but not as much as I wanted to

Clean, deep red granate, very long on smell with balsamic, ink and milky hints. Cocoa and coffee in the palate. Very long acidity, meaty, silky and everlasting on mouth. Probably one of the best Monastrell variety samples of Spain. 49€ on a restaurant, totally worth it.

This Friday, my Cabernet fix is really a Monastrell Cabernet blend, and it is great.

Deep purple core with a beautiful purple rim.

Fruity nose of blackberries, blueberries, plums, cherries, licorice, oak, vanilla, wildflowers, earth, sage, spices, peppercorn, leather, smoke, chocolates and mocha.

Full bodied, smooth, big and bold, with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black plums, cherries, raspberries, earth, tar, coffee, chocolates, tobacco, beef jerky and peppercorn.

Long finish with firm tannins, peppercorn and pomegranates.

What a great Monastrell blend from the house of Juan Gil this is. Balanced, spicy, smooth and elegant. Great mouthfeel with a tangy finish. Plain Deliciousness.

This could use a few years in the bottle to mature, but already very enjoyable by itself, as a sipping wine, or with food. Good for longer term aging.

Good right out of the bottle but much more complex after spending an hour in the decanter.

Grapes are 70% Monastrell and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Jumilla region. Aged for at least 22 months in French and American Oak barrels.

15.5% alcohol by volume.

Ripe raspberry jam, anise, deep oak and chocolate on the palate, tannins are still there. Is that American oak? This is a fantastic wine!
