The cruise continues! Night eight aboard the Allure of the Seas and since the Special Selection has already been finished and the Opus is too young we ran downstairs to grab this beauty out of the suitcase.
Deep and dark ruby red. Deep and layered nose with tobacco, spices, vanilla, dark floral notes, black currants, cassis and a touch of scorched earth. Heavy tannins (7.5/10) with a full body. Smooth attack on the palate but very powerful with solid acidity and strong backbone. Layered with vanilla, cinnamon and dark spices with a strong dark black cherry undertone throughout. Long finish. Big powerful wine with a decade or more left in it and will only get even better with time. Drink till 2030. (95+)
We decided we needed to celebrate this vacation with my parents so we brought along the first high-end bottle of wine we purchased back in 2014 when we went into Total Wine and met Victoria. So glad we did!

Rhonda's birthday and great wine - love the whole Bevan lineup - big bold and beautiful with a little peppery but opening up and just awesome - by the way I cooked and we had mussels clams shrimps anti-pasta and other goodies that were gluten free - proud of myself and main thing is rhonda is happy - and that leads to my smiling

Feb 22nd, 2017Love everything about Friday nights and December and Bevan red wines and the 2012 is incredible - oh yeah you say - well go get one and decant for two hours and then pour but slowly and then smell but slowly and then drink small sips but slowly and then remember it is Friday night and it is December and I bet you will enjoy and smile - rating might be slightly influenced by the fact it is Friday night and December - we are enjoying huge smiles tonight - all is good right now so SMILE people

Nice and lush with strong balance of black fruits and undertones of vanilla/oak. It's a baby and enjoyable now but I bet will be much better in a few years.

A beautifully balanced blend of lush black fruits, licorice, and vanilla. Round and supple, but a bit restrained and quick finishing.
