As most know, I am not a great lover of Pinot Noir, but the occasional exception can make my palate sing! This is one such vintage; vinted just outside Carmel By The Sea, by the proprietors of the Bernardus resort, it avoids the annoying style so predominant in California PN. The oak is restrained and the plum and blueberry flavors brought to the fore. It was a perfect accompaniment to open face tuna melt sandwiches 🐟 🥪 🍷😺

Bright and tart. This bottle opened a little funky with a mild vinegar nose, but the wine settled down as it opened up. Bing cherry with cranberry rising mid-palate. A long acid finish. A lighter, less complex wine than many SLH pinots, but quite drinkable.
