Mid to pale Ruby in colour - a little cloudy. Cowyard pooey aromas - perhaps a touch of Brettanomyces. On the palate, just medium weight but highly savoury with sour sappy cherry. Soft almost non existent tannins. Essentially an easy to drink red which was a great match with homemade Pizza.

Sicilian Frappato sexiness. Delicious high toned pomegranate with field cherries, garrigue funk on the nose. Black tea, wild floral notes, underbrush, chewy tannins. A red with verve. Can’t decide if I like the Pithos Rosso from these guys better or this.. I think the Rosso by a smidgen.

Bramble fruit. Cherry pie filling metallic fun. Definitely not on the same level as their Nero di lupo, or Classico, but still a knockout go to wine!

Deliciously vibrant, light-weight, crisp red wine from Sicily. I might prefer this Frappato to other COS offerings, and the price point is better as well. My Sicilian friend very much enjoyed this wine, as did the few others that got a taste. Food friendly, raspberry, bright cherry, mild tannins, Pinot-like weight.

Like Foradori, Ochippinti is a name I associate with unreckless natural winemaking - as it goes, the families are good friends. I’ve had the stubby Frappato many times - always good, feral, with minerals and tannins at a tiny 11.5% ABV. Simple enough - red berries and the truth.

At the intersection of natural and traditional is Cos. There is a nod to the old world and nothing is overly avant garde or boundary pressing. It’s also fresh, unfaulted, unadulterated. Always pleasurable balance of bright red fruit and earthy damp forest floor - without too much crunch or sour.

I turned 34 when I drank this.

2016 Cos Frappato and Sun Ra. Visionaries together. Wine is tart, fresh blackberry with moderate structure. Love the weight on this one. Packs a ton of deep fruit without any heaviness on a hot evening. The record is a great place to get to know the relaxed side of Sun Ra. Great things which go great together.
