Drinking g beautifully. After a day tasting William selyem, lynmar and merry edwards, this one actually stole the show. Balanced and complex. Really delightful

Solid but the oak is still a bit obvious.

Maybe we shouldn't have opened the Chambolle-musigny (Pousse d'Or 2011) right after. But this showed well, with prominent refreshing stemmy dark berry flavors.

This will age to be something beautiful. Too bad I will have drank all my stash before then. It already has a lush (considering it's a Pinot) mouthfeel with well balanced acid and tannins yet there's some elegant red fruit peeking out during the finish.

I'm letting my 2012 Rhys Pinots age but having tried a few, I'm wondering: If I hold on to a bottle of this Alesia, will it be more balanced and complex than a Rhys bottling 5-10 years from now? My money says it will be.

Rhys makes my favorite Pinots. Brilliant fragrance and smooth taste throughout. April 2017.
