Bodegas Maurodos

Cartago Toro Tinta de Toro Touriga Nacional 2012

Andrew Holod
9.5

Bodegas Maurodos Cartago 2012 D.O. Toro, paired with a serious veal chop, roasted piquillos, thick-cut chef-grown potato chips, and tomatoes at Chibo. Brand new wine for the winery coming from a single plot of old vines and named for a landmark curve of the Duero river. 90% Tinta de Toro and 10% Touriga Naçional, aged 3 years in 100% new French oak and 1 year in the bottle. Dense savory and more concentrated than San Román. Superb integration of oak, cranberry, wet stones, needs time. 2,000 bottles produced. #gos2016 — 8 years ago

A pretty firmly structured vintage of Prima. Dense with a hint of fig to the dark fruit. Finishes with firm but silky tannins. #gos2016 — 8 years ago

Concentrated, seamless and elegant. Paired with an exceptional tuna/potato/red pepper stew at El Chibo restaurant, shows a hint of herbs. #GOS2016 — 8 years ago

Bodegas Maurodos San Román 2013 D.O. Not yet released, but getting labeled today at the winery. Serious, slightly brooding at this time, lots of black fruits at the moment. #gos2016 — 8 years ago

Newest vintage, which should land in the US in late June. More floral, red fruited and gulpable than the 2013. #GOS2016 — 8 years ago
