Castello di Amorosa

Don Thomas Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Oh this is nice!!!!! Our Anniversary Dinner Wine for #31. This wine has a lot to offer….blackberry, black currant, blueberry, violet, toast, smoke, forest floor, and perhaps a bit of strawberry. The tannins are super smooth. Went great with the Chateaubriand!!! — 3 years ago

Forge Cellars

Sunrise Hill Vineyard Riesling 2018

Landing their 2018 Classique as #31 on Wine Spectators best of 2020 list inspired me to open a 2018 of my own. This is the Sunrise Hill vineyard. They take dry riesling to another level. Aged in Neutral Oak with a natural fermentation. Perfectly balanced with a complex body and mouthfeel and a crisp albeit short finish that leaves you longing for more. Superb. — 3 years ago

Have you ever had the chance drinking multiple years of this? The '75 is still drinking, the '94 & '98 were great, the '00 & '03 were solid, although the '02 & '08 were weak. This '05 was a pleasure. Less of a production than regular and apparently the '13 is gonna be over the top.

Castello di Monsanto

Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2007

Decent, but I cant go as high on score as this was at release (WS #31 of 2011). I would describe it as rustic, lots of bricking around the edges. The fruit is a little bit tart and the acidity slightly overwhelms the finish. Its right in the middle of its drinking window, so its either just not a great bottle or just not my thing. — 7 years ago

The big boy. Wine Spectator #31 in 2013. Still needs time in the bottle. A bit early to drink now but can tell this will be beautiful. — 10 years ago
