This wine needs time but is showing beautiful dark fruit now. Oak is integrating nicely, I’m going hands off for a couple years mostly because this seems to have a great upside. — 7 years ago

This was pleasant, not yet quite as approachable as the Amici but with some bottle age could jump. Had subtle savory notes. — 7 years ago

Figured I’d pull one as a delivery arrived and this (appellation Aubert) seems to be a hot topic on here recently. Opened like a sauv blanc almost and took time to show itself but was nice.

I found it enjoyable but I understand the QPR argument. It’s priced close enough to the single vineyard so may not be worth it.

Agree, the Sonoma coast is a PNP. The single vineyard bottles need a minimum of 5 years.

Don’t like either. The single vineyards need five years.

I haven’t had any appellation Auberts before last night. I may have a Sonoma coast one tonight to compare. I usually favor Sonoma coast chards over Carneros.

This was brought to dinner, and I had never heard of it. What a treat, I haven’t had a Napa Malbec a long these lines. Big dark wine was wonderful with grilled beef. Bottle age would help but it was rocking. — 7 years ago

This was a nice big juicy wine. Tannins were manageable. Not sure if age will add much beyond shedding some tannin. Enjoy! — 7 years ago

Figured I’d check in here. The merlot is noticeable, and I love it. With time this is going to be a big fat plush wine. Right now still tannic, and starting to show itself. Patience for another year or two will pay dividends. — 7 years ago

I love this vineyard. Framed with great acidity, mineralogy, and citrus (especially lime), it’s a big beauty. LONG. — 7 years ago

Thanks @David L I saw you had the RM which is why I asked about that vineyard! Started tracking on Wine searcher already.

Haven’t had a Littorai in quite sometime. At one time many years I belonged to the club. They were always very good.

I found this enjoyable but drank it after the Realm so that likely changed my perception. The table thought it was good but needed more time. Plush fruit, and integrated oak. — 7 years ago

Decided to give this one a shot after the exchange yesterday. Started off a bit oakier than I like, but once that blew off this was pleasant enough. I have a couple others I might wait on to see if the oak integrates and gains complexity. — 7 years ago

@Shay A id agree. I’m going to dedicate my dollars to all single vineyard going forward! These were my first appellation ones.

@Paul Treadway Huntington Beacher going off of @David L advice, five years. I’ve been buying for a few and have only opened a Lauren early. Age does seem to do good things for these if you can wait. I love the UV-SL!

UV- SL is my favorite! The 15 will drink great in 2020 .
