It’s coming along, best after >24 h. Enjoyable now but will wait another 12m for next one. ‘20 vintage — 13 days ago

Always felt this wine a bit boring, even in a **** vintage. A recent Capbern had more depth and cigar spice. — 3 months ago

Agreed. To be fair, Capbern punches way above its weight. I dig those wines

Rustic prune and raisins, leathery soil tones, mint. High acid subtle VA. Stylistically polarizing, maybe too backward. — a month ago

With enough age and air to hit on all cylinders. A bit of VA on day 2 and it elevates it even more. — 5 months ago

@Jay Kline haven’t tried many MGA barbarescos, but this sure was impressive. It certainly showed me there is a world beyond the consistently good Produttori.

@Jae Cho There sure is! Other MGA’s in Nieve to keep an eye out for are Currá (which is right next to Cottá) and Sottimano makes a great example; Albesani; Gallina; Bricco di Nieve; and then arguably the most famous of all, Serraboella. Obviously, experience with Produttori’s Riservas is like a “greatest hits” of MGA’s within Barbaresco del Barbaresco but it’s also worth seeking out examples from Pajè; Roccalini; and of course the incomparable Roncagliette. Aside from Vallegrande and Rombone, I have less experience in Trieso and really no experience in Barbaresco di Alba.

Dark fruit for days but focused and weightless. Still a baby compared to the ‘18. The last glass 9 hours after opening was the best. — a month ago

In an awkward spot that suffers by comparison to an amazing mosel troken. Has much that’s delicious, but the taut, stony tertiary flavors are incipient not quite showy. — 4 months ago
