Domaine Leflaive
Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 2010
Damn…most of the Leflaive I’ve had were vintages in the last ten years and they were all perfect. Only one from the period between 2000-2010 and I must have just been lucky.
I fortunately almost all the Leflaive I have bought was 2007-13… all vintages with serious premox issues. Some wines it’s significantly more than 50% spoiled which is really exasperating given the cost of these wines. When they’re on they’re really on, but it is maddening.
That’s brutal.

A bit closed at first, but all the stuffing of a potentially great white burgundy. Powerful yet balanced, improved immensely and gained complexity with time in glass. Will wait a couple more years before I pop another. Will only get better with time. Thanks @Lyle Fass! — 3 years ago

I’m not a fan of the Millet era Vogue. Too Cabernet-like. Older ones can be mind bending.

Very pretty floral nose; violets reminiscent of Cote Rotie. Elegant and mature, lovely and resolved. Really appreciate the low alcohol, cool climate character due to high elevation. No rush, but it may not get much better from here. Thanks @Lyle Fass. Loved it!! — 4 years ago
