Dinner with Flora Springs Proprietor John Komes at Toscana Country Club, Indian Wells CA. The 2013 vintage has not been rated and needs maturing but has flavor that may mature to better than the 2012. — 10 years ago
Aromas of blackberry and currant. Dense fruit. Masculine structure. Framed acidity lends to an extended drinking window, but is showing beautifully now. — 11 years ago
Out of magnum. Extremely balanced red fruit with acid and tannin to let this one age quite awhile. Can't want to taste this again in 10 years. Wells and Mike have done a helluva job on this one. Complex but very approachable. — 12 years ago

Thanks Wells! — 13 years ago
On the nose; ruby, glowing, ripe, slightly candied fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, blue fruits and black raspberries. Soft minerals if you can call them that, caramel, cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate, whiff of black licorice and perfumed, red florals & roses. The beauty and quality of the fruits turn the eyes up. Bright and a sense dull at the same time. The body is full and beautiful. Tannins nicely round and soft for a 13. Its extremely silky & elegant. Fruits of; blackberries, blue fruits, plum, dark cherries, creamy raspberries, black raspberries, black plum and strawberries paint the background. Fruits are a touch gummy. Vanilla, caramel, dark chocolate, anise, mocha, soft leather, wood shavings, fine crushed rock powder & fine chalky minerals. Acidity near perfect. The structure, balance & length are well executed harmony. The finish is beautiful, well polished and lasts two minutes. Excellent pairing of Guinness Braised Beef Short Ribs, Horseradish Mashed Potatoes & Haricots Verts from Davis Estate Chef Mark Caldwell and featured in the middle left photo. Other photos of; the vines above the Estate, lobby and the vines/view from the Estate terrace. — 8 years ago

Patricia and Walter Wells + Yves Gras = deliciousness. — 12 years ago
Fruity, low carbonation, mostly sweet with a bit of bitter — 13 years ago
Dense and aromatic, with ripe blackberry and cassis but no sweetness or syrup. Loads upon a loads of white pepper. Fine tannins. This has aged remarkably well. I have this sense, perhaps mistaken, that Wells basically did a stylistic about face between 2006 and 2007 but perhaps that overstated the case. — 9 years ago

Dark with a nice spicy finish — 11 years ago
Similar taste to Chateau st Michelle Indian wells. That's a better value. This one costs $23 but the exact kind of profile I like for my whites. — 11 years ago
A fantastic Pinot — 12 years ago
One of the few Merlots I can drink at any time and don't have to be in the mood for. Fragrant, smooth, almost silky. — 12 years ago

Boca wine dinner. Now this was good... Let it sit for an hour and the air creates an entirely different full bodied taste. Planning on trading Wells a bottle of Quilceda Creek Galitzine for this... — 8 years ago
