Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.
Full bodied and Bold, with high acidity and awesome legs.
After an hour of opening up, gorgeous nose with blackberries, blueberries, currants, chocolate, turmeric, vanilla, spices, cooked plums, figs, licorice and peppercorn.
Dry and fruity on the palate with black currents, figs, cherries, blackberries, dry fruits, vanilla, licorice, coffee, tobacco, Mediterranean spices and black pepper.
Long finish with spices, smooth tannins and tart cherries.
Really needs 1 hour to open up properly. Another great Cabernet from the Michael David house. Very enjoyable by itself or with a big juicy steak. I Paired it with a Moroccan chicken dish with lots of spices, and it held its own well.
This changed some from a year ago. Matured and not as abrasive.

My favorite rose every year. The light color belies the depth of flavor here, with gobs of strawberry, watermelon and lively acidity. — 11 years ago
A classic Napa mouth feel from a vintage that got overshadowed by the 1982 and 1985 vintages. 30 years later it is in perfect shape. The fruit has faded to the brown range and shows complexity you can't buy at the wine shop. — 11 years ago
A surprise. Bright fruit flavors rounded out with subtle herb and earth notes. Beautiful full mouthfeel. Did not overpower the Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Pomegranate Sauce (The Wine Lover's Cookbook by Sid Goldstein) — 12 years ago
Best pairing, aside from the ratatouille pizza. Lush and dense with strong structure. — 9 years ago
2006 vintage. Started slow. A few hours later this was singing with clear high notes. Two more bottles in the cellar. Need to find another reason to open them — 10 years ago
One of my fave Zin makers. This one with dashes of carignane and petite Syrah. Intensely flavored with ripe dark fruit, pencil shavings and baking spices. Lots of acid to lift the richness. Long finish of fruit and spice. — 10 years ago
An immediate fruity blast with a light bite at the end. A parched tingle haunts you until followed by another sip — 10 years ago
2011. Was worried about the vintage and youth, but blown away by how complex and lively it showed within 5 minutes of opening. Layered cherry and dark fruits. More of a classic Bordeaux nose versus a traditional CA cab. — 10 years ago
From 3litre. In great shape continued to blossom over length of hours. I was impressed by the condition and taste. How many times do these turn out to be crap? I say 1 in 20 from my experience are great — 11 years ago
Pleasant oaky flavor from the bourbon barrels. Smooth. Wouldn't be my first choice to drink by itself, but try with a meat or strong cheese! — 9 years ago
Love it as much as Kathryn Hall 2010 cab. Gently sweet with subtle tannin, rich complex layered with a floral scent sensational nose, and incredibly smooth. Slight bit of tart cherry on the flavor. 97-100

More approachable, but no less impressive, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) looks gorgeous, and is probably the most complete wine in the lineup. Layered and rich, yet ultra-pure and elegant, it gives up classic creme de cassis, lead pencil shavings, licorice and liquid flower-like qualities to go with full-bodied richness and depth on the palate. Relatively civilized, yet with building tannin and richness, it should benefit from short-term cellaring and have two decades of longevity."- Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate (Issue #213, June 2014), 97 - 100 pt — 10 years ago
Not much of a nose. Strong cranberry flavor. Would be the perfect thanksgiving wine with turkey and cranberry sauce. Not enough fruit for me, but a good zin for those turned off by the varietal's "fruit bomb" characteristic. — 10 years ago
Presents a deep, dark ruby coloration. The nose is a sweet bouquet of herbs, primarily licorice and anise, with black cherry, dark berries, strawberry, black tea and florals. On the palate, dark berries, anise and black cherry followed by oak and vanilla. Mellowed tannins are present throughout and the finish is seemingly never ending. Velvety smooth wine. 2009 vintage. — 10 years ago
Full body Merlot with great aromatics of cassis, leather, and hints of grandmas cooking spice rack..Well structured and well rounded tannins great piece of work by the daughter from Caymus and the Wagner family..Really great Merlot and I'm fussy with Merlots!!! Jenny's Sauvignon Blanc is dynamite as well.. — 10 years ago
It has been sitting there waiting to be drunk. Wow! Tight as hell on opening, really opened up nicely. What a nice Zin. Spicy and nice tannins. Worth the wait. — 11 years ago
Jordan is always good... Thinking it would have been better with a steak than the Chicken Parm at Runway 84... Thank you Ralph and the crew from Las Olas... What is better than Thursday night at this place... The chick from Mob wives by the bar taking pics... Chicken Parm and a good Cab... Ahh.... Youth is waisted on the young!!! — 12 years ago

Yes it's Friday, and it's time for my Cabernet fix.
Beautiful color of dark purple with a purplish rim.
Nice nose of wild flowers, blueberries, currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, smoke, chocolates, mocha, alcohol, dark coffee, peppercorn and spices.
Medium plus in body and rich, with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, plums, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, green vegetables, bell pepper, leather, smoke, chocolates, mocha, wood, beef jerky and peppercorn.
Long finish with angular tannins and black pepper.
This Napa Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville is fantastic. Spicy and complex, however, it is not balanced yet. Too young and harsh right now, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. A very typical Napa nose and palate with a great finish.
I have another bottle that I will keep for at least 5 more years. Needs to be opened for an hour or so to show complexity and tannins.
I found it to be better than the 2012 vintage.
Aged for 22 months in French oak barrels (60% new).
