Ahhhh Raul! A lovely Mencia that is heart and soul of Bierzo, Spain. Kinda like Pinot Noir but with a little more blue fruits. Wicked with buffalo carpaccio. In stock today ($40). #renegadewines #santabarbara #winenerd #sb #sommlife #winetasting #wineporn #seesb #trustyourpalate #montecito #sbcwine #seriousjuice — 9 years ago
Lovely fresh sea weed aroma on the nose. Peach and apricot on the palate and retro nasal. Good balance and depth. Full mouth feel. Lovely food wine. — 9 years ago
Nice for a blend — 6 years ago
A bit of a revelation domestically. Dank on the nose (weed gummies is how the winemaker describes it and he isn’t wrong), loaded with juicy fruit, tart acidity but more savory qualities to follow, underscored by a vegetal structure. — 7 years ago
Lightly sweet and smooth — 7 years ago
Very smooth. Quit good and easy drinking. — 8 years ago
The love child of two of my favorite weird towns; Asheville and Athens. Bright, weighty, and full of hoppy juice flavors — 9 years ago

Dried herbs, weed, and hay. Dried prunes raisins, light liquorice, and red raspberry compote. Earl grey tea, bergamote. Autumn leaves and fresh composte. Christmas candy cane. Once again, ethereal. A Burgundian Rhone. Even more tea like after some time. — 7 years ago
Cru Chablis in disguise. Wicked matchstick minerality and golden fruits. Textured and round with acidic backbone. — 7 years ago
A five hour decant. Dark cherry and blueberries with a rub of minerals and tobacco. Just awesome — 8 years ago
Strong coffee nuts and cacao on the front; vanilla finish and sweet aftertaste. Nose is remarkably unremarkable. — 8 years ago

This fine thing pulls me in as I breath her earthen essence faintly fragrantly post-rain flowerlike wet, dripping a whiff of some distant weed working its way around the corner as a horn player lays out a rhythm to which we dance turning, twisting, eyeing discriminately she shows her plum-to-burgundy rim, then goes deeper, as she lightly touched my lips showing red fruit unctuously lava-like clinging leaving a ripe plum-like memory touched by cassis long and lasting begging for more - so we continue...amazing locally-farmed, open-water oysters... — 9 years ago

Pre-Labor Day festivities with friends.
Stinky barnyard, new leather, dried cherry, wicked finish, still years to go, more notes later...
48 Hour Update:
Nose has ripe cherry syrup, moist earth, dry tree bark, ripe black cherry, ripe blackberry, light star anise and roasted meats.
Palate has ripe black cherry, cherry jam, dusty blackberry, light cedar notes, smoked and charred meats, dry earth and a very sappy finish that runs very long. Tannins are in a beautiful spot right now, they do not get in the way of the beautifully complex flavors, but just a gentle complement. Future bottles can be 2021-23. — 6 years ago
