Lovely nose. Mineral, lemon, nutty. So juicy and so compact. Sleek. Mineral. More later. This was drunk so quickly with my Dad and Stepmom that I barely have any note. Was rich as Charmes can be. Buttery and ripe but it had whiplash acidity and such lovely purity. Wet earth and mineral started to dominate for the last glass which was the best. Gorgeous wine. Needs 3 hours or 3-5 years. — 7 years ago

Big nose. Blueberry, blackberry, red cherry, plum, spice and a general sense of cool climate. Palate is rich but with a whiplash of acidity and freshness on the finish. Very pure and clean. Good fruit and excellent hint of rusticity but also a good structure and acid spine to ensure nice aging. — 6 years ago

Bright red. Clean, fresh strawberry and blood orange on the enticing nose. Fresh and juicy, with youthfully chewy but vibrant red fruit and citrus flavors. Finishes long and peppery, with a whiplash of juicy acidity. Knockout, fun-to-drink Cannonau wine that goes down like water. Honestly, I found it hard not to guzzle down every glass. Well done. They ran out of whiplash, but this (different blend) has a nice zinfandel berry flavored wine. — 9 years ago

Great. Lots like whiplash. — 10 years ago
This has aged into quite a beauty. Floral, lots of potting soil, some cassis, fresh rain, meadow, a dark profile yet aged yet not. Terrific nose. Lots of tar and tobacco as well. Palate is compact and fresh with nice density and opulence and length. Persistent. Good ripe tannins and that trademark 2000 whiplash acidity. Love it. — 7 years ago

Finally coming of its shell. As many 13's are in a great place now this continues with that theme. Superb nose. Intensely mineral, white pepper, rainer cherries. Lemon candy drops after some air. Palate is deep, mineral and very concentrated with citrus whiplash on the finish after an opulent attack and mid palate. Terrific unexpected contrast. Really elegant after some air. So complete. Puts so many GG's to shame. Sappy and mineral finish with terrific length. I adore these wines. Such values and he is still overlooked in the Nahe by the big boys. Not for long. — 8 years ago
#DRC #Richebourg 1966: out of the gate its nose was as compelling as the accompanying La Romanée-Conti 1996, the former displaying an explosive and complex swirl of mature cherry, brown sugar, and leather. But ten minutes later that leathery aspect began dominating the others and the wine started a deep, unexpected decline, its sexy sweetness fading like a volume knob twisting to off. We marveled at this unusual shift, continuing on to our final glasses. Another surprise came at the end the Riche partially returned to the sweetness and succulence of its first moments.
