Old Wente Chardonnay 2016

8.9

Bought out of nostalgia for when we loved this and respect for the went clone. Didn’t really measure up especially not to other options. Had an oddly sweet finish. May be the year but has lost its oak and other appealing qualities. They’re not making it any more so ok to let this go. — 2 years ago

Livermore Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Dark deep purple. Oaky with blackberry flavor. My favorite winery and wine. Just the right complexity and fruitiness in full bodied California cab. — 3 years ago

Morning Fog Livermore Valley Chardonnay 2016

This yellow-gold wine rings the “old-style Cali” bell in all the right ways. A nose of apricots, mangoes and apples is helped along with the smell of buttered popcorn. Oak treats the palate as well, draping over the tropical fruit like a sunshade. The acidity is zesty, yet the mouthfeel tends toward creaminess due to the wine sitting on the lees for five months. The oak is a definite part of the wine, but the effect is softened enough so that it's a pleasure, not a pain. — 5 years ago

Classically styled CA Chardonnay. Lots of butter and not too much oak but a fair amount. Green apple, lime, lemon, some butterscotch, high acid and a nice rounded finish. — 6 years ago

Rich, lush; blackberries, black plum, blackberries, boysenberries, black pepper, grilled meats, leather, showing a little too much wood, lavender, violets. Acidity is high and the alcohol shows hot at this stage. — 6 years ago
