La Boutanche Gamay

This wine packs a punch! Pungent upon smell and going down, but man oh man do I love it. Sweaty socks is right. I don't usually go for a gamay, but this ones my jam. — 11 years ago

Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2012

Not sure what this wine is, compared to the de la cote, but it has all the qualities of a stellar Pinot for a reasonable price — 11 years ago

A. R. Lenoble

Blanc de Noirs Premier Cru Brut Champagne Pinot Noir 2009

In a word, the 2009 vintage AR Lenoble Blanc de Noir is stunning. 100% pinot noir from the 1er Cru village of Bisseuil, 28% of which was aged in wood. This gives the wine an appealingly spice character and lusciously round body. The wine remains elegant and supple without a trace of heaviness. Baked apple, crisp acidity and vibrant berry fruit fill out the palate impression. Delicious. — 11 years ago

Lucky, Lucky, you! I met and had a grand tasting dinner with Maria Jose Lopez de Heredia a couple yrs ago. If forced at gunpoint to name my fave winery, this is it!

In retrospect: this rating should be higher.

Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay

Champagne more on the elegant if lighter style. Nice light citrusy notes, plenty of fruit - especially at mid-palate, where toasty flavors blend in nicely. Fruit falls off through the finish, but there's still a nice long aftertaste. — 12 years ago

Veuve Fourny & Fils

Cuvée R Extra-Brut Champagne Blend

Loved this as it is so easy to enjoy as an aperitif or with a well suited meal. Biscuit, bread and leesy notes dominate with fruit taking a mild be seat. — 11 years ago

Kallstadter Saumagen R Auslese Trocken Riesling 2008

Had a couple of looks lately; this was the lesser bottle, basically showing a little less lift and vibrancy. But it's still a pretty awesome drink - great strength of fruit, texture, tension. Tropical fruits, pebbliness with a lick of herbs - the aroma sensations are pretty stimulating on their own, but the textural dimension is what makes it for me. — 11 years ago

Southern Belle Precious Syrah 2008

This wine begs to be the center of attention. The curious label art sets the stage and the wine steals the show. The wine is aged in Pappy Van Winkle bourbon barrels, giving it a mystifying flavor that is complex, with a luscious linger. You will not forget this wine and will soon start the hunt for another bottle. Mine was a 2008, signed by rock star winemaker David Phillips. — 11 years ago

My bottle was actually McLaren Vale and from Australia, not Precious from Spain.
