Medium ruby in color; cherries, black pepper, and smoke on the nose; high acidity; medium tannins; tastes like sour cherries, clay pots, and strawberries with a long finish. It really opened up after decanting for about an hour. Nellie says she likes the flavor, but it's really acidic. Should be great with a creamy pasta. This Mexican red wine certainly feels earthy and fruity like other Valle de Guadalupe wines I have had. This wine, though comes from the Italian grape Nebbiolo, doesn’t really have the sharpness (full tannins) most Italian wines have and most often need a food pairing. This wine because it’s light, smooth and almost Zin-like without being overly sweet. — 4 years ago
