Might be the bottle but just a bit past its prime. Still good - sweet core, good acid, dark fruits. — 7 years ago
At 17 years of age full of vim and vigour. A perfect mature blend of currant and mocha (oak). Almost resolved tannins but will be good in another 5 years at least. This is the last of a dozen bought on release. Very Good. Better than the 2000 and not quite as good as the excellent 2002. — 7 years ago
Damn. Still rockin strong. Like Dave in the good years. I fooled my wife into thinking it might be old world/ that all the praise you need to know. — 8 years ago
A luscious promise in a bottle, rich, boldly aromatic and loaded for bear with cocoa powder and oaky tannins. It tasted like the early morning earth smelled on my last bike ride through Yountville flats. So primary, like just bottled. May be as good as the Pedregal of '08 but we won't know for 5+ years. — 9 years ago
From a 3 liter, about 10 years after "PD" suggested it was to be at its best. (This was a gift from my 21st birthday and the cork was beginning to show seepage so time to drink!). Seriously good stuff. The boozy side of Zin has settled, the structure and savory notes of the Petite Sirah and Mataro are emerging. Looking forward to this with grilled meat, lobster and whatever else we can cook up outside. @ridgevineyards #legend — 10 years ago
Good. You can lock me up anytime wth this wine. I'll be your Prisoner — 10 years ago
Pippali, bright black cherry, currant type fruit. Roast chestnut. Riper year it seems though no overripeness and totally fresh. A touch of fig maybe. Very well balanced with good acid. Seems to just be approaching secondary development. Awesome. Incense and secondary tobacco (stems?). — 12 years ago
Enjoyed while cleaning out the boss' cellar. Say what you want about this wine, but the one thing you can say is that this wine is incredibly consistent. This wine reminds me of the family uncle who always gives you some silver dollars at Christmas...even though you are now a grown adult. And if you actually listen to his crazy advice on investing when you were a kid, you just might be able to be that Uncle when you grow up. This wine is a thoroughbred. Meant to be consumed at least after 10 years. And this wine is in a really good spot. The nose does show a tiny bit of age as does the palate. This is front-loaded with slightly aged blackberry and a bit brambly. This wine smoothed out quite a bit over 3 hours. Finish with very nice integration, a hint of stiff oak tannin but a lot of it has resolved. Very enjoyable. This wine still has another 10 or 15 years left. — 7 years ago

Not quite dry enough for my taste but a very good wine. — 7 years ago
Funny story, we ordered the bottle of wine on the line after this bottle on the menu. The waiter brought this bottle as a mistake which we found out was listed as a $485 bottle of wine! We took one sip and knew that it was too good to be true. Come to find out that this is one of the first super tuscan wines ever made. Even though management took the bottle from our table as soon as it was realized, that was the luckiest and most delicious mistake that's ever happened to us. — 9 years ago
Really good. Might be first Rioja I've had. — 10 years ago
Best Pinot ever! Could possibly be almost as good if not better then the mourvedre from Sort this out — 11 years ago
Supposed to be good — 11 years ago

I really enjoyed this wine. Good nebbiolo is good to me. — 7 years ago

Very young. Needs 3-5 years to round the tannins. High acidity. Fruit is very nice. Lots if bing cherries. Will be very good in a few years or with a long decant. — 7 years ago
Gotta be really careful here. This bottle is as good. Not 9.8 good. The complex blackberry cassis, pencil shavings, herbal front is incredible. This doesn't resemble an 07 Howell Mtn. Would have guessed 11 or 12. Pride Brother and Sister PNV outdid this wine by a narrow margin, but I don't think I've had many 9.5+ bottles in 20 years and nearly 2600 bottles. The power and peppery black licorice finish just kept going and going. OMG. Not worthy!!! — 7 years ago
Mmm this is gunna be good. It's tight and shut down at the moment, but this has a dark purple hue to it - way more color than previous vintages of d'Armailhac that I've had. Some cedar and graphite mixed with herbs and black fruit on the nose. Palate isn't as tannic as expected, but definitely needs more time to hit its stride. Very well-made however - I bet with a 3-hr decant it'd be fab. Good value as most of the '14's have been. — 8 years ago
It's hard to follow the 91 Palmer in the same night back to back. Especially, five years younger. Not quite a fair race. This is absolutely one of my favorite Bordeaux producers. As the 96 opens up, it's getting better and better. It's definitely a great steak wine but good one it's own as well. The 96 still needs another 5 plus years in bottle to, "be all it can be." Tannins are still a bit chewy. It's thick, heavier blackberries, black plum, dark cherries, a touch of blue fruits, cherries & strawberries, dry stems, tobacco, leather, cedar, dry lavender & fresh violets, anise, expresso roast, black earth & stones, powdery crushed limestone, burnt ambers, graphite, spice, cinnamon, clove, nice acidity, still fairly big structure, tannins, long length and a good finish that will improve with more time in the bottle. — 9 years ago
Lovely green notes and good concentration. Should be very nice in 5-10. — 10 years ago
Pure classic light young Nebbiolo. Good now, bet it would be better/more 3* in a couple. — 10 years ago
2011. Blanc. No one drinks enough of this. That's because there are so few things to which its a good partner, but it would be an incredible cheese-and-charcuterie wine. Broad and oily, there's just enough acid to keep you coming back for more. Sun-baked yellow orchard fruits dominate, but there's more exotic fruits too (mango and dried pineapple) yellow flowers, tons of almond husk bitterness, green olives, bay leaf, oregano, tarragon, white cheddar. Oak is assertively present but not overwhelming. Place dominates over grapes here, as it's a mix of Clairette and Grenache Blanc and a hodge-podge of other things. — 11 years ago
It's really good but needs to be opened 1/2hour before you eat. — 13 years ago

Absolutely beautifull, tannins are still a bit harsh, but few more years should be good. Perfect pairing with “ries de veau”. — 7 years ago
