This young Rioja is surprisingly very approachable.

Dark purple in color with a purple rim.

Full bodied, smooth and elegant, with medium acidity.

Dry and fruit forward with nice complexity.

Showing black currants, plums, tobacco, licorice, light oak, spices, chocolates, coffee and peppercorn.

Medium minus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

Would be nice to revisit it in 3 years.

Tangy and good by itself or with food.

14% alcohol by volume.

Grassy, hay notes on the nose.

I’ve always found white Rioja quite unique amongst white wine. They possess an oxidative quality which really sets them apart and perfect for aperitivos. The oxidative note is like a trifecta: opens the appetite, pairs well with sweet fruit and salty jamón. — 2 months ago
