Nice blackberry notes with slightly peppery finish. Perfect with tacos al pastor! — 10 years ago
Enchanting! Or is it because we know it's from the Canary Islands? Think Etna ( volcanic) softer spoken. Mineral Core w black cherries & herbs. Light frame. Eye opener. Plus cool bottle-no front label, has a pour spout, & less than 20$. Jose Pastor import — 10 years ago
Another wonderful Zin from Ridge--this one opens with a nose of berries and a hint of cocoa, and is followed by chocolate cherries on the palate, a hint of spice, soft, well-integrated tannins. Perfect with al pastor tacos! — 11 years ago

Mellow with a soft ending. Great red for chicken or a grilled meat. — 11 years ago

Here at reataurnt El Pastor in Arranda ( Shepard of Arranda.. His father was one. ) we are having amazing dishes of young lamb and Tempranillo. The PG, their top wine is showing remarkably well proving the food and wine relationship, that perfect balance that focuses in on fruit and acidity is paramount to understanding the gems of Spain — 12 years ago
Killer red from Canary Islands. Thanks Jose Pastor! — 13 years ago
Jose Pastor continues to rock my world for flat-out value. This is a very elegant wine. Crushed berries, earth, spice and black pepper. Floral elements remind me of an old-school Saint Joseph. True delicacy and finesse from a great producer. — 8 years ago

A little disjointed but showing a lot better than the Arcilla did a few months ago, and I'm thinking a few months more ought to knit these together nicely. Gushing with warm dark fruit but also has plenty of crackle and crunch on account of a green-apple sort of acidity that's very unusual to experience in a red wine. The Jose Pastor web site says this is from one of the highest elevation sites in the zone at 1,000 meters so that crackling texture makes perfect sense. It also has 15% Albillo (a white grape) and yet the complexion feels darker and the fruit more voluptuous than the 100% tempranillo Arcilla. — 10 years ago
