Love Paul Hobbs! What a cool collaboration. This wine is rich & elegant, but just right with a simple pasta at home on a cold Thursday night. — 5 years ago
Good depth, approachable blackberry fruit with some added oak nuances. A bit shy on acidity and complexity but an appealling food wine. Soft tannins, elegant moderate finish. Easy to like — 7 years ago

A cold night’s dream. Full bodied, dry, lovely. — 4 years ago
2018 vintage. Historical producer tracing back to the beginning of the 19th century. 100% Areni Noir from the Vayots Dzor region from 40 years old vines at 1300 - 1400 m. Calcareous and volcanic soils. Aged 6 months in used Armenian oak barrels. A very good introduction to the wonderful Areni Noir grape. Brilliant transparent ruby. Attractive nose with pomegranate, red cherries, flowers and a hint of vanilla. Elegant taste with bright red fruit, fresh acidity and a nice ripe tannic bite. Amazing value at about 13 euro. Abv. 14%, but hardly noticed. — 5 years ago

2018 vintage from the new Malahi range of the historical Maran winery. This is a blend from 3 grapes, each from different zones. 50 % Areni Noir (this grape used to be called "Black Mahani" up to 1947, hence the name) from Vayots Dzor, 25% Khndoghni from Artsakh (aka Nagorno-Karabakh), and 25% fruit from young Malbec vines from the Ararat Valley. 6 months in used oak. Deep dark colour. Blackberry fruit and spices in nose and mouth. Nice balance and fine-grained tannic structure. A very good wine, but still I would love to see a high end 100% Areni from this estate, as I believe this wine is a bit too internationally styled to compete with European wines in the same price range (about 24 euros). — 5 years ago
I was at one of my local wine stores this week and saw this interesting sparkler from Armenia. Thought I had to give it a try with two interesting blend of grapes 60% Voskehat and 40% Khatouni Kharji both indigenous to the Vayots Dzor area of Armenia and grown on 60-100 year old vines.
On the nose there is beautiful citrus notes, lemon curd, strawberry, white flowers and creme brulee.
On the palate the citrus notes are confirmed, lemon, stone fruits, a salinity, minerality and a rich creaminess of vanilla.
This sparkler is medium bodied with loads of beautiful effervescents and fine bubbles that continue on forever. There is zesty high acidity which leads right to a clean fresh finish. For the price you cannot beat this. I hope everyone's start of the Christmas weekend has been an exciting one with thoughts of what's to come on Christmas day. Stay safe and enjoy your family and friends. Nostrovia! 🍾🍾🍾🍾 — 6 years ago
