El Colomer, Porrera (Tarragona). Sopar d'Anyades Antigues. Vall Llach/Mas Doix.

Blend of Grenache, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Light ruby/garnet color with a slight brick rim. Aromas of minerals, dried blueberries, purple flowers and oak. Blue/blackberry and black currant fruit on the palate along with notes of dark chocolate, tar and black licorice. Pleasant mineral note on the medium length finish. Though its power has faded over time, this unfiltered wine shows nice balance and a smooth texture. A bit past its prime but still drinkable and interesting. whoa - this was a hedonistic wine, inky w/pungent aromas of blackberry, black cherry, plums, licorice, cassis, vanilla, cocoa and minerality running through it all - liquified compote like fruit - on the palate you get some phenolic heat but just gobs of velvety black fruit, spice and minerals, big plush, integrated tannins and just enough acidity to keep everything moving to a long lingering caressing finish. known this producer for a long time, a Priorato stalwart - their entry level wine, doesn't have the typical terroir of the region but still impressive — 15 days ago
