Talk about a happy surprise, as my first Australian Nebbiolo, courtesy of Stephen Pannell and the Adelaide Hills, lifts from the glass in a gorgeous display, showing bright cherry, peppery herbs, both rosy and violet florals, hints of tobacco, and cedar shavings. On the palate, silky textures usher in petty red berry fruits, seeming to hover across the senses with ease, turning more to cranberry and savory spice, as a mix of round tannin and minerals settle in. The finish is long, echoing tart red fruits with a tug of grippy tannin, yet not overpowering, instead in perfect harmony, as pretty inner florals and spice linger. — 5 years ago

Hey there chaps. If you're feeling chapfallen, then this mountainous cuvee could easily usher in a new chapter in your lives. One that even Monsieur Chaptal would deem a sweet choice. I tip my Chapeau to the chapt who made this Chappellet. Pairs well with Chapatties. I felt like a chapleted chaplain having ditched his chaperones and chaplaincies. Shows notes reminiscent of chaparral. So see your roving Chapman for a bottle worthy of being displayed on your chapiters! — 8 years ago
Phenomenal way to not only watch the ‘Stros lay on the heat to the Yankees, but also to usher in a 9 day Vacation! The Four Seasons always delivers top tier wining & dining. I certainly wouldn’t mind staying here throughout all four seasons... — 8 years ago
A silhouette of violets, dandelion tea, and dark sour cherries usher in angular acidity and firm, addictive tannins. Firm bodied with balanced doses of minerality and sassafras bark. Equality across the palate. Delicious and a stand-up performance of a Beaujolais-Village quality level. #vintageonthecork — 9 years ago
The 2019 Bonavita Rosato is an incredibly deep ruby color, so much so that you might mistake it for a red. On the nose, I’m finding an alluring mix of crushed cherries, offset by tangerine, rose petals, and the slightest hint of exotic savory spice. On the palate, soft textures usher in a remarkably pure expression of floral-laced red fruits and minerals, as it seems to hover across the senses over a core of vibrant acidity with hints of ginger and a gentle tug of tannin. The long finish is fresh but also showing a youthful structure, leading me to believe that this might be even better if given some time to unwind in the cellar. This blend of Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Nocera is really quite stunning. (Eric Guido, Vinous, May 2020) — 5 years ago
The Renieri 2015 Brunello di Montalcino is dark and intense in its aromatics, displaying a mix of earthy mineral and soil tones, offset by crushed black cherry, savory herbs, leather, and spice. On the palate, soft, fleshy textures usher in ripe cherry fruits, offset by a mix of brisk acids and saturating minerals, as hints of exotic spice buzz upon the senses, leaving a coating of fine tannin in their wake. The finish is long and structured, flexing its hulky tannins, as only a hint of dried black cherry, minerals, and spice linger. The 2015 Renieri needs time and lots of it, but I believe its primary fruit and acids will one day tame the massive structure that is currently dominating the wine’s personality. Drinking complex with graciously floral and green notes sharing love with tropical, tree, and citrus fruit. Fresh grass, pea shoot, tomato leaf, fennel, and jasmine usher in front of lime, green melon and passion fruit. Slate minerality serves as the adhesive for the palate. Grain-driven texture and laser precise acidity honed into the center... finish doesn't quit. Balanced in all aspects and super juicy. Terroir comes through beautifully! — 8 years ago
Tasting notes on Krug can never really capture the magic so I won't try....but I will say that vintage Krug always (always!) lives up to the hype and I appreciate anything that lives up to expectations. A generous, expressive, classy, sleek bubbly that helped me usher out a '16 that I was more than happy to push roughly through the door. If you're "not a fan" of champagne try Krug. It's transcendent. — 9 years ago
Crushed plums, cherries, and blueberries are offset by spiced orange and a hint of tangerine, then further complemented by hints of rosemary, tomato leaf, and finally, animal musk; this only begins to describe the layered bouquet on the 2013 Luigi Tecce Taurasi. On the palate, soft textures usher in fleshy red fruits and citrus-kissed herbal tones, as subtle tannins slowly collect on the senses. Its structure shows mostly through the long, dramatic finish, tugging at the cheeks and drying, yet all you need to do is take another sip to refresh the experience. Frankly, I don’t see this vintage aging decades in the cellar. There’s a bit of a rustic edginess here, yet the 2013 is beautiful today and sure to provide many years of pleasure. Il Poggione 2015 Brunello di Montalcino offers up a dark, earthy, almost animal-like expression, showing black soil and undergrowth, giving way to crushed black cherry, dusty spice, and dried florals which lift the experience. On the palate, soft, fleshy textures usher in fresh cherry and strawberry, as brisk acids add energy, with savory herbs and minerals saturating, as the 2015 Il Poggione’s fruit nearly masks its structural core. The finish is long yet fresh, with classic, fine tannins, dried red fruits and pretty inner floral tones lingering throughout this perfectly balanced expression. The 2015 s pure class and built for the cellar. (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2020)
