Rich and creamy but not cloying in any way, definite ageing potential, and lovely length — 6 years ago

So tonite, I’m enjoying two great artists: Miles Davis, “Kind Of Blue,” 1959, and Manfred Krankl, “Poker Face,” 2004. My all-time favorite Jazz recording (consolation prize to Chet Baker), and my knock down, drag out, unwavering all-time favorite Non-barrel aged SQN Syrah. Fairly bold statement, right? Plenty of great SQN Syrah over the years. But none that over-stimulate the olfactory senses, and catapult the taste buds to warp speed every single time I pull the cork. 15.5% alcohol. Impenetrably dark, opaque, achromatic, inky, motor oil appearance. Off the charts aromatic exhibition of incense, spice box, black pepper, Blackberry liqueur, wet stones and floral notes. Similar palate profile. Definitely fruit driven complexity, but less noticeable oak this time along with some developing nuances of mushroom, forest floor and roasted game. Pure silk texture. Positively chewy. Concentrated and dense, yet subtle and nuanced. A huge wine that’s light on its feet. Stopwatch still running on the finish. Miles and Manfred. Always pushing the envelope, but still instantly recognizable styles. Art transcends genres. “Dedicated to M’s adopted Brother.” — 8 years ago

Fab wine. Great aperetif or to go with seafood, creamy sauces or asparagus, artichokes etc. Alvarinho surely, not quite sure about the blend posted here! — 7 years ago

Excellent bottle. — 9 years ago
Colour: translucent red allowing quite a lot of light to pass
Nose: quite acidic, no oak which is rare for a red and no tannins. Very light and refreshing smell. Reminds me of standing in the middle of garsons with smell of ripe fruits in the air during the peak of summer.
Taste: very light, and very easy drinking. Smooth vanilla flavour with little fruitiness coming into the foreground. A little tannic, could do well with some decanting.
Very short aftertaste.
Wine rongy will probably enjoy and probably good with light seafood dishes or with hard cheese. — 6 years ago
Paired nicely with local wild mushroom pizza. Inky red, highly extracted pigment, too dense to assess clarity. Black currant, herb, eucalyptus and maybe violet notes in nose. Black currant tartness and flavor with length, eucalyptus in mouth, soft mouthfeel. Slight seed bitterness, minimal skin tannins left. A pleasure to drink, an interesting exhibition of Tempranillo’s varietal character — 7 years ago

Just fantastic — 8 years ago
The nose could almost be a white wine with a hint of tropical fruits perhaps (I've maybe been drinking the South American reds too much as of late), however, a great dark fruit flavour with medium finish. Good balance. Easy to drink on it's own but I think would suit a peppered steak with salted fries (must try that...) — 9 years ago
